THE SHANGRI-LAS

THE SHANGRI-LAS came to the attention of
record producer George "Shadow" Morton, who arranged for a
contract with the newly formed Red Bird label. Morton wrote and produced
"Remember (Walkin' In The Sand)",
a record that quickly established the group by climbing to the National
Top 5. He next employed the writing services of Ellie Greenwich and Jeff
Barry to supply a follow up. Greenwich and Barry provided several hits
for The Ronettes, The Crystals, Lesley Gore, and others. Their
contribution was "Leader of the Pack",
an instant classic that went straight to #1 and stayed there for many
weeks. They had several additional hits like "Give
Him A Great Big Kiss", "Out In The Streets", "I Can
Never Go Home Anymore", and many others.
Today, THE SHANGRI-LAS tour the country on
the concert circuit, having performed at Madison Square Garden and
Carnegie Hall in New York City, McCormick Place in Chicago, Greek
Theater in Los Angeles in addition to all the major casinos throughout
the country, including many appearances in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
The girls most recently performed with Joan Rivers at The Tropicana
Hotel in Atlantic City. In addition to performing with Joan many times,
they have also starred with Jackie Mason, Dion and Frankie Valli, to
name a few.
THE SHANGRI-LAS are by far one of the most
exciting, talented and sexiest groups performing today.
